Archaeology survey – trial trenching work on site
As part of the surveys and assessments we’re doing to inform our planning application, we’re carrying out some archaeological trial trenching work this summer under license from Oxford City Council.
We have a team of specialists on site who are working on a series of minor excavations in the Meadows. This work is an important part of understanding more about the potential archaeological interests across the site and checking assumptions. Digging two trial trenches will help the team to have a full understanding of the site.
This work is being carried out by Oxford Archaeology on behalf of OxWED. The work is expected to complete by 9 September. Once complete, the survey team will be making good and returning the Meadows to the same condition as prior to doing the work.
A detailed archaeological report will be submitted as part of the future Oxpens planning application.
