Oxpens Planning Application Submitted
The proposed transformation of Oxford’s West End would bring new homes, jobs, extensive riverside public space and hotel.
OXWED LLP, the joint venture between Nuffield College and Oxford City Council, is excited to announce that the planning applications for the regeneration of the Oxpens site have been submitted and validated by Oxford City Council.
Updated Oxpens plans to go on show
The opportunity to transform a neglected part of Oxford into an exciting mixed-use riverside neighbourhood, designed around outstanding new public spaces, is taking another significant step forward. With a planning application for the Oxpens area due for submission later in the autumn, the updated proposals go on show to the public at Oxford Town Hall on Thursday 22nd September.

Archaeology survey – trial trenching work on site
Oxford Archaeology have been commissioned to undertake a series of minor excavations in the Meadows. This work is an important part of understanding more about the potential archaeological interests across the site and checking assumptions.
Welcoming the opportunity for the West End and Osney Mead SPD
We have submitted a formal response to the consultation to welcome this framework, and we look forward to the City Council moving forward with the SPD.

Have your say on the emerging Oxpens Masterplan
Updated plans for a 15-acre ‘new quarter’ for Oxford at Oxpens will be set out in November and the Oxford community is being asked to contribute its views. This will be the last major opportunity for people to have their say on this important project before the plans are finalised for the planning application submission in early 2022.

Oxpens Site History
A comprehensive review of the site and the history of the St Thomas’s and St Ebbe’s Parish was commissioned by Oxwed. We have now published the exhibition and report on this material.

The opportunity for Oxpens to be a ‘new quarter’ for Oxford and emerging ideas for how that could happen will be put on show at consultation events this July. OxWED, the joint venture between Oxford City Council and Nuffield College, will be sharing its emerging thinking and proposals through a combination of public exhibitions, site tours, a dedicated consultation website, and community briefings.
Funding commitment takes Oxpens forward
Work can now progress on preparation of proposals, consultation and a future planning application. Oxford City Council and Nuffield College have both confirmed their funding commitment to enable the Oxpens site to progress.
Oxpens site and the route to regeneration
OxWED, the joint venture between Oxford City Council and Nuffield College is, today setting out the next steps for the redevelopment of the Oxpens site. OxWED is working towards a consultation with stakeholders this Summer and the submission of an outline planning application by early 2022 – it is now seeking investment from its shareholders to make that happen.
